Boston College is Boston College in football. But if one takes the program too lightly, one risks having the BC backsides dancing around in the end zone.

The visitors made it look easy on their first two possessions, going the length of the field for a field goal, a touchdown and a 10-7 lead. The Golden Eagles were not playing like a 1-5 team, not about to roll over, keeping the outcome in doubt until the final minutes.

Fortunately Louisville Coach Jeff Brohm was well aware of the incoming threat, knowing that any letdown after a win over a top five team the week before. That was not going to happen in this game, with the Cardinals riding the back of running back Issac Brown for a total of 205 rushing yards, a touchdown and a 38-24 win. A solid win before 50,320 fans at L&N Stadium.

Lots of patience required for the UofL players and fans, with Boston College adept at the ball control game. The visitors owned the ball for a total of 35 minutes, 44 seconds while Louisville had it for 24:16.  The Cardinals saw the ball for just over five minutes in first half but owned a 21-10 advantage at the intermission.

The great thing for UofL is that Isaac Brown needed only a few seconds on Louisville’s first possession. He would rush 73 yards to the two-yard line, setting up quarterback Miller Moss for the Cardinals’ first touchdown. Isaac is back at full speed and is a constant big play threat, later scoring on a 62-yard touchdown to give Louisville a 21-10 lead at the half.

Moss would score two touchdowns, on runs of one and nine yards in the first half. He completed 15 of 27 passes for 205 yards, including a 22-yard pass to Caullin Lacy in the third quarter.

Despite the heroics of Moss and Isaac Brown, fans are rightfully apprehensive about their abilities to maintain control of the ball in crucial moments. Both were credited those ever dangerous turnovers again. Not good to still be concerned about that.

At 6-1 the Cardinals are guaranteed a bowl appearance.  But there are bigger possibilities available.

No relief in the upcoming schedule with Louisville traveling to Virginia Tech on Saturday at 3 p.m.
