The summer months are hard enough for hard core University of Louisville fans to endure. No games, minimal activity on campus. The last thing the Observer needs is for the web site to go screwy, but that’s what happens in early July. CardGame was for all purposes down and out.
After what seemed to have been an eternity, CardGame is back after several weeks of navigating one technology hurdle after another. Not fun for a UofL fanatic for more than six decades. Day after day adrift in the frustrating pursuit of technical support from a longtime supplier.
Waking up one morning to a startling notice on the website, a boldface warning that the site is not private and could pose a serious security threat. Overnight and without warning, the supplier has switched to another server and clients are expected to navigate the tangled technical waves with little help. Making things worse the U.S. company had been taken over by a British concern.
One of the first hurdles in CardGame’s recovery was discovering that this supplier was no longer taking phone calls from customers. The only way to communicate with technical support was via a chat system and forever wait lines. More than once listed as No. 22 or higher in the queue, waiting at least three hours each time. When someone finally does respond, the session is brief, there are few answers to questions, and no hint of concern.
We’ll spare you additional details. Suffice it to say. CardGame is back, as committed as ever to University of Louisville athletics. If you have bookmarked the site, please change the site to https://UofLCardGame.net.
Heartfelt apologies to long-time visitors to CardGame, some of whom with us since the beginning of the site back in 2007. We will continue to provide UofL news and perspectives not available through legacy sports media or other websites.
Thanks for hanging with CardGame.
Thanks Tony. Quite a struggle for an 81-year-old fanatic but immensely rewarding getting it up and going again, just a few weeks before the beginning of the 2023-24 academic year at UofL. Been a fan of the Cardinals since i was 10 years old at an orphanage in Versailles, Ky. This web site provides me with an outlet to express my love for UofL so it is very important to me.
Hi Charlie, I really like the new website. I find it symbolic that uoflcardgame.net Is roaring back and so are the UofL CARDS! May your voice lead the charge.
